Understanding Your Scars
The Key To Treating Them
Acne Scar Removal Singapore
After just one treatment, patients observe a significant improvement. Multiple acne scar removal treatment sessions is possible without side effects. This means you can get much smoother skin safely and effectively.
Acne scars occur when inflamed lesions and enlarged pores rupture the follicle wall. When restoring the function of damaged tissues, the body generates new collagen fibers. However, these fibers don’t always end up as smooth and flawless as the original tissue.
When a wound heals, the body produces the right amount of collagen or too little, resulting in either raised tissue or an indentation.
To get rid of acne scars, a patient will often try multiple treatments and home remedies first. Acne marks can undergo treatment in several ways, with some being more successful than others.
Different treatments may be more or less effective depending on the severity of the acne scarring. Acne scars are in the following three categories:
Atrophic scars
Skin that heals over a scar produces an atrophic scar.
Tiny depressions that appears on the skin is when a lack of fibroblast production hampers the skin’s healing process. Since fibroblasts synthesize collagen, it is clear that these cells are essential to the healing process. After acne, chicken pox, or indented scars heal, atrophic scars frequently appear as a side effect.
Three possible atrophic scar types can develop from the indentation:
- Icepick scars
- Rolling scars
- Boxcar scars
Atrophic Scars
Boxcar – These are wide, U-shaped scars that have sharp edges. They can be shallow or deep. The shallower they are, the better they respond to skin resurfacing treatments.
Ice pick – Ice pick scars are narrow, V-shaped scars that can go deep into the skin. They can look like small round or oval holes, like a chickenpox scar. These are the most difficult scars to treat because they can extend far under the surface of the skin.
Rolling – These are wide depressions that typically have rounded edges and an irregular, rolling appearance.
Hypertrophic or Raised scars
These scars are most common with chest and back acne. They stand above the surface of the surrounding skin and are caused by too much collagen during healing.
Atrophic or depressed acne scars can be treated by 4D Scar Reconstructive Surgery. Hypertrophic scars like Keloids can be treated with a combination of corticosteroid shots and laser therapy.
