A LONG TERM SOLUTION FOR HYPERTROPHIC AND ATROPHIC SCARS
4D (Definitive Depth Dynamic Detachment) Scar Reconstruction is pioneered by Dr Sin Yong. Dr Sin Yong is currently the only doctor in Singapore capable of delivering this technique for scar revision.
Scars can result from accidents or diseases such as acne or inflammation. Prolonged inflammation leads to worsening of scars and scars require specific treatments to get better. 4D Scar Reconstruction utilises multiple treatment modalities and erases scars from diseases or accidents. Using this technique of treating scars, we achieve expedient improvement. Within the 4D Scar Reconstruction Programme, Dr Sin Yong utilises various devices to target ice pick, boxcar and rolling scars all on the same setting.
Needless to say, degree of downtime also corresponds to results.
TCA Pint is also employed by Dr Sin Yong on the same setting to create chemical reconstruction of skin surface.
Understanding Your Scars
The Key To Treating Them
Acne Scar Removal Singapore
After just one treatment, patients observe a significant improvement. Multiple acne scar removal treatment sessions is possible without side effects. This means you can get much smoother skin safely and effectively.
Acne scars occur when inflamed lesions and enlarged pores rupture the follicle wall. When restoring the function of damaged tissues, the body generates new collagen fibers. However, these fibers don’t always end up as smooth and flawless as the original tissue.
When a wound heals, the body produces the right amount of collagen or too little, resulting in either raised tissue or an indentation.
To get rid of acne scars, a patient will often try multiple treatments and home remedies first. Acne marks can undergo treatment in several ways, with some being more successful than others.
Different treatments may be more or less effective depending on the severity of the acne scarring. Acne scars are in the following three categories:
Skin that heals over a scar produces an atrophic scar.
Tiny depressions that appears on the skin is when a lack of fibroblast production hampers the skin’s healing process. Since fibroblasts synthesize collagen, it is clear that these cells are essential to the healing process. After acne, chicken pox, or indented scars heal, atrophic scars frequently appear as a side effect.
Three possible atrophic scar types can develop from the indentation:
- Icepick scars
- Rolling scars
- Boxcar scars
Boxcar – These are wide, U-shaped scars that have sharp edges. They can be shallow or deep. The shallower they are, the better they respond to skin resurfacing treatments.
Ice pick – Ice pick scars are narrow, V-shaped scars that can go deep into the skin. They can look like small round or oval holes, like a chickenpox scar. These are the most difficult scars to treat because they can extend far under the surface of the skin.
Rolling – These are wide depressions that typically have rounded edges and an irregular, rolling appearance.
Hypertrophic or Raised scars
These scars are most common with chest and back acne. They stand above the surface of the surrounding skin and are caused by too much collagen during healing.
Atrophic or depressed acne scars can be treated by 4D Scar Reconstructive Surgery. Hypertrophic scars like Keloids can be treated with a combination of corticosteroid shots and laser therapy.
What Kind of Results Do I Expect?
Treatment results are PERMANENT, and do not employ the use of any fillers. This is also a definitive one-time solution for acne scars.
Different modalities by Dr Sin Yong allows a life changing experience for our patients hit by acne scars or even scars from accidents.
4D (Definitive Depth Dynamic Detachment) Scar Reconstruction achieves consistent patient satisfaction where they notice up to 80% improvement with just one single treatment session.
4D scar reconstruction is a cutting-edge dermo treatment for treating acne scars with long-term results. The full effects of the treatment may not be immediately noticeable because collagen production takes time, but once they are visible, they tend to last for permanently.
*These are patients who have tried lasers, energy-based devices, microneedling, fillers etc. have only experienced limited improvement.
PROCESS OF 4D SCAR Reconstruction
Firstly, Dr Sin Yong defines the scars to be treated with you.
Secondly, we apply local anesthetic to the area for treatment.
Thirdly, the process of scar breakdown commences where you can hear each scar that breaks off, freeing the overlying skin surface.
Fourthly, a recovery process from swelling and bruising ensues over the next 2 weeks.
Finally, reap the final results in about a month.
Why Don’t We Use CO2 Lasers for Acne Scar Removal in Singapore?
Acne scars and acne marks can undergo treatment with CO2 fractional resurfacing lasers. By gradually removing a few microns of the skin’s surface, CO2 lasers effectively treat scars. However, this resurfacing method works best on Caucasian skin and not Asian skin. Problems with dark spots and burns are expected when used on Asian skin, necessitating additional sessions.
Using this treatment on deeper scars is unsatisfactory because of the higher risk of complications and it requires a longer recovery time . As a result, we are unable to target scars that require a fully ablative resurfacing.
Deep ablative resurfacing gives a threefold effect—restoring the skin’s natural position while also releasing the tethering scar fibers and rebuilding the collagen matrix—the skin is left feeling and looking much smoother than before. However, this is not always ideal for Asian Skin.
