Fat Freezing Singapore

Contouring a pinchable pocket, not a way to lose weight

Cold can injure fat cells while skin and nerves tolerate it. Your anatomy decides whether it is an option. Change is gradual, and results vary.

In Brief

Fat freezing in Singapore, known as cryolipolysis, cools a pinchable pocket of fat so that some fat cells die and are cleared over the following weeks. It suits stable weight and a discrete pocket. It does not reduce overall weight, tighten skin, treat cellulite or address visceral fat.

About This Treatment

How fat freezing works

Cold harms fat cells more readily than it harms skin. An applicator draws a fold of fat between cooling panels and cools it for a fixed cycle under monitoring. Affected fat cells undergo programmed cell death, and your body clears them through normal metabolic pathways.

The treated area is massaged after the panels are released. Dr Sin Yong first decides whether your anatomy fits. If it does, he carries out the treatment himself. The consultation can also end with advice not to treat. Fat freezing is one of several non-surgical options, and it only makes sense for the right kind of pocket.

Areas that may be treated

Flanks

Including love handles.

Lower abdomen

Where a discrete pocket can be pinched.

Thighs

Inner and outer thighs.

Bra-line and back rolls

Where the fold can be drawn in.

Double chin

Only after assessment, as it has several possible causes.

Who is suited to fat freezing treatment in Singapore

It may suit you if you have a discrete, pinchable pocket on the flanks, lower abdomen, thighs or bra-line. Your weight should be stable, with the pocket persisting despite diet and training. Skin over the area should be of reasonable quality. You also need to accept that this contours a pocket and does not reduce weight.

Who should not have it

Pregnancy

Please wait while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Cold-related conditions

Cryoglobulinaemia, cold agglutinin disease or cold urticaria.

Local problems

A hernia in or near the area, poor circulation, impaired skin sensation, an open wound, infection or skin disease at the site.

Previous PAH

A past episode of paradoxical adipose hyperplasia.

When another route fits

Weight still changing

Better to wait, as this is for contouring.

Larger volumes or loose skin with separated muscles

Liposuction or abdominoplasty, through referral to a plastic surgery specialist.

A firm, rounded abdomen you cannot pinch

Doctor-supervised weight management.

Fat with a laxity component

Onda Pro Coolwaves, a microwave-based option.

Other body contouring

Z Sculpt addresses diffuse contour and tone. 4K Body Lift is radiofrequency body contouring.

What fat freezing cannot do

Reduce overall weight

It treats a pocket, not the body as a whole.

Treat visceral fat

Fat inside the abdomen is out of reach.

Tighten loose skin

Laxity needs a different approach.

Treat cellulite

Cellulite is not a target.

Replace surgery

It does not take the place of surgery for large volumes.

Risks and side effects

During treatment you will feel intense cold, pulling and then numbness. Afterwards, redness, swelling, bruising and tenderness are expected and normally settle. Altered sensation can last for a period, and numbness may take some weeks to fade. Uncommon problems are skin injury from cold, ongoing discomfort and contour irregularity. A rare risk is paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, where the treated area enlarges and firms. This is discussed with you beforehand, and it may need surgery.

What to expect

01
Prepare
Declare medicines, cold sensitivity, hernia or circulation problems, and any pregnancy plans. Avoid sunburn, tanning and crash dieting. Bring recent photos and a list of past body treatments or surgery.
02
Assess
Candidacy is checked, then you receive a written plan and quote.
03
Treat
The applicator cools the area for a fixed cycle, and the area is massaged afterwards.
04
Review
The response is reviewed as cells are cleared over the following weeks.

Aftercare

Most people return to usual activities. On the first day, numbness, redness and tenderness are expected. Wear loose clothing, and use gentle massage if advised. In the first week, swelling, bruising or altered sensation are expected. Do not press hard on the area, and keep to normal activity as advised. Protect the area from the sun until the skin settles. Use a gentle moisturiser and avoid scrubbing. Contact the clinic the same day for blistering, skin that looks dark, white or ulcerated, severe or worsening pain, numbness that does not settle, an area that becomes firmer and larger, or spreading redness, warmth or discharge.

How fees are set

Fees are not published. They depend on the areas treated, applicator size and consumables, the number of zones or paired areas, and whether fat freezing is combined with skin tightening or another body treatment. A written quote is given at consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. It contours a pinchable pocket and does not reduce overall weight. Results vary.
Yes. They are two names for the same approach.
CoolSculpting, Cooltech and Clatuu are all cryolipolysis brands. The brand matters less than a proper assessment of your anatomy.
You will feel intense cold and pulling, then numbness. Tenderness afterwards is expected and normally settles.
Any change is gradual, as cells are cleared over the following weeks. No specific date can be given, and results vary.
Cleared cells are removed rather than shrunk. The fat cells that remain still respond to weight change, so keeping your weight stable matters.
It is a rare effect where the treated area becomes larger and firmer. It may need surgery, so please report it the same day.
Only after assessment, because a double chin has several possible causes.
Not for larger volumes. Liposuction in any form is surgical and is referred to a plastic surgery specialist. Fat-dissolving injections are not part of this approach either.
