The short answer
Rejuran and Profhilo are both injectable skin treatments, but they are not the same kind of product. Rejuran is a polynucleotide preparation purified from salmon DNA. Profhilo is an uncrosslinked hyaluronic acid.
Rejuran may come first where skin is damaged or inflamed. Skin creams and masks carrying the Rejuran name are cosmetics, not the injectable treatment. A consultation decides whether either is advised.

Preparations of Rejuran
The standard facial preparation.
Higher viscosity, placed into and around scars as part of acne scar care.
Lower viscosity, for thin skin around the eyes.
Polynucleotide combined with hyaluronic acid.
How the choice is made
Damaged, inflamed or textured skin leans towards Rejuran. It does not hydrate as hyaluronic acid does. Skin that is mainly dull, thin or dehydrated leans towards Profhilo, which is a bio-remodelling product, not a dermal filler. Dr Sin Yong uses a modified placement for Profhilo, keeping the standard points as the safety framework, and adding placement according to face shape. He may also place it into scarred skin. On evidence, a 2025 systematic review of polynucleotide found nine studies with 219 patients, all of low or moderate quality. A 2022 split-face trial of 27 people found no significant difference in visual scores between polynucleotide and non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid around the eyes. None of these studies measured volume, lift or pigment.
Who should wait or avoid them
Pregnancy or breastfeeding, and infection or inflamed skin at the site. Treatment is deferred.
A fish or salmon allergy is assessed carefully, or a different skin booster is chosen.
A known allergy to hyaluronic acid or any component.
Keloid tendency, blood thinners or a bleeding tendency. For Rejuran, allergy to topical anaesthetic. For Profhilo, autoimmune disease, severe allergy history and earlier non-dissolvable filler.
What neither can do
Neither adds volume or lifts. Neither treats pigment or changes pore size. Rejuran does not correct dark circles caused by structure, and it does not release tethered or fixed-wall scars, which need subcision or resurfacing. Profhilo does not correct a hollow cheek, flat bridge or receded chin, and it does not hold a contour. Jowling or a loose jawline is referred to energy treatment such as HIFU or radiofrequency.
Risks and recovery
Small raised bumps at injection points, swelling, tenderness and bruising. These settle over the following days, and changes develop gradually.
Less often, nodules where product sits unevenly or too superficially, and infection. Rarely, allergic reaction. Persistent bumps are scanned by ultrasound.
Less often, lumps, infection and allergic reaction. Serious risks are vascular, linked to placement near facial vessels.
Increasing pain, spreading redness, pale or mottled skin, or fever. For vision changes or eye pain, call 995.
Sessions and fees
Neither has a fixed session count here. For Rejuran, any interval is set at review. For Profhilo, more than one visit may be advised, and a second placement is timed at review. Fees depend on area, product or preparation, amount used, delivery, any combination and staging. A written quote follows consultation, and no prices are listed. Treatment for appearance is not claimable under MediSave or MediShield Life.
