Sagging Face Treatment Singapore

Several layers age together, so one tool rarely fits all

Skin loosens, fat pads descend and deeper support weakens. Each lifting option acts on one mechanism, so the plan follows what has changed in your face. Results vary.

In Brief

Sagging face treatment Singapore options include laser, radiofrequency, focused ultrasound, threads and threadless lifting, each suited to a different need. They suit mild to moderate sagging. They cannot replace a surgical facelift, and pronounced sagging with heavy skin excess needs a surgical opinion. Results vary, and ageing continues.

About This Treatment

Why a face sags

Sagging comes from several layers ageing together. Skin loses collagen and elasticity. The deeper fat pads descend. The underlying support weakens, so the face drifts downward. This shows as a softer jawline, jowls, deeper nasolabial and marionette folds, a heavier double chin and a loss of the V shape.

Each device acts on one mechanism, so no single device suits every face. Dr Sin Yong first separates laxity from volume loss and fat. Non-surgical lifting suits mild to moderate sagging. If there is pronounced sagging with a large amount of excess skin, he will advise a surgical opinion instead.

Sagging face treatment Singapore: options by need

OptionWhat it isNeed it fitsMain limit
Time Freeze Laser LCLR®Long-pulsed 755 nm and 1064 nm laser that heats the dermis. Adds no productMild to moderate laxity of the jowls, jawline and neck, or compact fatDoes not replace volume or remove redundant skin
VF LiftMonopolar radiofrequency at 6.78 MHz on CLASSYS Volnewmer. No focused ultrasoundLaxity with puffiness or hollowing, including lean faces treated with restraintDoes not remove heavy skin or replace bony volume loss
RVR ProLiftBiodegradable collagen-stimulating product placed by fine needle along mapped vectorsMild to moderate descent of the nasolabial folds, jowls, mid-face or outer eye corners, without threadsDoes not fill a fold or replace lost bone or deep fat
HIFUFocused ultrasound on Ultraformer MPT at 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.5 mmEarly to moderate laxity of the jawline, under the chin and neck, with enough tissueNot planned for lean faces. Does not clear a full fat pad
UltherapyUltherapy Prime micro-focused ultrasound with imaging, at 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mmMild to moderate laxity of the brow, jawline, under-chin or neck, in a face that has kept its volumeNot used on lean faces. Adds no volume
ThermageThermage FLX monopolar radiofrequency to the deep dermis and fibrous septaeMild to moderate laxity in skin that still recoils, with volume keptDoes not reach the SMAS or reposition deeper tissue
Thread liftBliss Lift absorbable PDO and PCL cog threads above the SMASDescended, mobile fat pads with elastic skin and no large volume deficitRepositions tissue but does not tighten skin

RVR ProLift has no threads and no energy device

RVR ProLift is often confused with a thread lift or an energy lift, so it helps to be plain. It has no threads and no energy device. A biodegradable product goes in by fine needle along mapped vertical vectors, and it stimulates your own collagen as it resorbs. It does not rely on added volume, and it is designed to resorb rather than build up. There is no general anaesthesia or incision. Each side is mapped separately, which can help where the two sides differ. It does not lift a hooded lid from the brow or correct asymmetry driven by muscle movement.

How the choice narrows

01
Laxity, volume or fat?
Laxity and volume loss are separated first. Lifting does not replace volume, and volume restoration is a separate path.
02
Lean or full?
A lean face rules out HIFU and Ultherapy, because heat in thin fat can cause hollowing. The VF Lift is used instead.
03
Which layer?
Ultrasound at 4.5 mm reaches the SMAS. Thermage and the VF Lift heat the dermis and septae. Threads reposition mobile tissue.
04
Needles or no needles?
Energy and laser routes inject nothing. RVR ProLift and threads need needles or local anaesthetic.
05
Neck involved?
Thermage is not the usual choice here. The VF Lift and Time Freeze are used for necks, and vertical bands respond to botulinum toxin.

Who should wait or avoid it

Pregnancy or breastfeeding

Lifting treatments wait.

Skin not ready

Active infection, open wounds, inflamed acne or a cold sore in the area come first.

Implanted electronic devices

The VF Lift and Thermage are not used with a pacemaker, defibrillator or other implanted electronic device.

Recent filler or threads

These change the timing and plan for energy treatments.

Bleeding, keloid or autoimmune concerns

These are reviewed before needles or threads.

For Time Freeze

Fresh tan, recent oral acne medicine, lupus, active vitiligo, melasma, and tattoos or embroidery in the zone are all reasons for caution.

Heavy skin excess

This goes to a plastic surgery specialist.

What these treatments cannot do

Replace a facelift

Non-surgical lifting does not match surgery where descent or skin excess is marked.

Replace lost volume

Lifting does not add volume, and filler does not lift.

Remove excess skin

No device or thread does this.

Stop ageing

Ageing continues, so maintenance and review are part of care.

Lift with pico laser

Pico laser targets pigment and tone. It will not tighten jowls.

Risks and side effects

Focused ultrasound commonly causes redness, warmth, tenderness and slight swelling or bruising. Rare risks are surface burns, temporary facial weakness and hollowing from energy in thin fat. Radiofrequency commonly causes redness, warmth, mild swelling and tenderness. Less common effects are blisters, small burns, altered sensation and a dent over thin fat. Time Freeze can cause tenderness, small areas of crusting and temporary darkening, and rarely a burn, lightening, scarring or more fat loss than intended. Threads commonly cause bruising, swelling and dimpling. Less often they can be felt or seen, or can extrude or migrate, and nerve or parotid duct injury is rare. RVR ProLift commonly causes swelling, tenderness, bruising and needle marks. Lumps can occur, and infection, delayed inflammation or reduced skin blood supply are uncommon.

Recovery and results

Recovery differs by method. After ultrasound or radiofrequency, skin may be pink or warm, and usual activities can generally resume. Threads bring swelling, bruising and tightness on opening the mouth wide, so wide mouth opening, facial massage, dental work and face-down sleeping are avoided early on. Recovery after RVR ProLift depends on the area and is discussed at consultation. Results build gradually as collagen remodels. No duration is promised, and the change is judged at review rather than on the day.

Sessions and fees

The number of sessions is planned individually, and intervals are set to what your skin needs. Any repeat treatment is decided at review. Fees are not published. They depend on the areas treated, the degree of sagging and the protocols planned. A written quote is given after assessment, and that visit also decides whether treatment is advised at all. For focused comparisons, see Thermage vs Ultherapy and the jowls guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Options include Time Freeze, VF Lift, RVR ProLift, HIFU, Ultherapy, Thermage and thread lift. The choice depends on which layer has changed and how lean your face is.
No. RVR ProLift has no threads and no energy device. A biodegradable product is placed by fine needle along mapped vectors.
HIFU and Ultherapy are not used on lean faces. The VF Lift is used instead, with restraint on a very thin face.
No. Non-surgical lifting suits mild to moderate sagging. Pronounced sagging with heavy skin excess needs a surgical opinion.
No. The VF Lift uses monopolar radiofrequency and no focused ultrasound. HIFU uses focused ultrasound.
No. Threads reposition tissue. They do not tighten skin, add volume or change skin quality.
No. Pico laser targets pigment and tone. It will not tighten jowls or re-support a sagging jawline.
No duration is promised. Results build gradually, can vary with age and skin quality, and ageing continues afterwards.
