V Shape Face Singapore

Find the limiting structure before choosing a treatment

A V shape depends on the jaw angle, masseter, chin, jawline and laxity. Most faces combine two or more of these, so the order of treatment matters. Results vary.

In Brief

V shape face Singapore plans start by finding what limits your shape, whether fat, bone, muscle or laxity. They suit people with a wider or softer lower face who accept staged work. No injectable or device changes bone width, and deep buccal fat removal is surgical. Results vary.

About This Treatment

What actually sets the shape of the lower face

Five structures shape the lower face: the jaw angle, the masseter muscle, the chin, the jawline and any laxity. A wide look can come from one or from several, and treating the wrong one changes little. The first step is to work out which structure is the limit.

Dr Sin Yong checks each in turn. A clench shows whether the masseter is enlarged. A profile view shows chin projection against the nose and lips. Pinching at rest and in expression shows whether fat is involved, with ultrasound if needed. Jawline contouring then follows from these findings, not from a fixed package.

The order of treatment matters

01
Reduce what has grown
An enlarged masseter is treated first.
02
Reposition what has slipped
Lifting comes next, so filler does not disguise descent.
03
Define the frame
Chin and jawline filler come last. Reversing this order is a common reason for an overfilled lower face.

Jawline contouring when the jaw is soft

Jawline filler adds definition to the frame. It does not slim a wide face, and adding it over descended tissue can hide the real cause. Where the softness comes from early jowling, lifting is planned first. The VF Lift and Time Freeze routes inject nothing, so they may suit people who want no filler. If you want a fuller explanation of jowls, see the jowls guide.

Masseter BTX and chin filler in practice

Botulinum toxin softens an enlarged masseter gradually. Chin filler is built up in small amounts with you sitting upright, and the shape is reviewed after swelling settles. Too much chin length can make the face look longer, so the amount is kept in proportion. Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, while CaHA and PCL cannot. Earlier filler of unknown type, or a previous chin implant, is assessed individually. Masseter BTX does not build the chin, and chin filler does not reduce width, so each one is planned for its own cause.

Who this suits

It suits people whose lower face is wider, rounder or softer than they would like, and who accept a staged, assessed plan. It also suits people who want to know what can and cannot change before they begin. Where one structure is the clear limit, a single route may be enough. Most faces combine two or more.

Who should wait or be referred

Pregnancy or breastfeeding

Please wait.

Active skin infection

This comes first.

Recent lower-face treatment elsewhere

Allow the recovery window to pass.

Marked skeletal discrepancy or bite problem

This is discussed before any filler and may be referred.

Heavy, redundant skin

This is referred to a plastic surgery specialist.

A wish for a fixed chin implant

An implant is referred out.

Dental work or bleeding risk

Recent dental work, bleeding disorders or blood thinners are reviewed before chin filler.

What it cannot do

Change jaw bone width

No injectable or device alters bone.

Remove the deep buccal fat pad

This is surgery. It cannot be reversed, and the pad deflates naturally with age.

Replace volume with lifting

Lifting alone does not replace lost volume or reduce a full fat pad.

Correct heavy skin

Redundant skin needs a surgical opinion.

Add chin projection by device

Lifting devices do not build the chin.

Risks and side effects

Masseter BTX commonly causes tenderness, small marks or bruising, and chewing may tire more quickly for a period. Less common effects are an uneven smile, bulging on clenching and hollowing below the cheekbone, and difficulty swallowing is rare and needs urgent review. Chin filler commonly causes swelling, tenderness, tightness and some bruising. Lumps, asymmetry, infection and migration are less common. Vascular occlusion and mental nerve irritation are rare but serious. CaHA and PCL cannot be dissolved. VF Lift and HIFU both use heat, so redness, warmth and tenderness are common. Burns and nerve effects are rare, and hollowing can follow energy in thin fat. Seek same-day contact for pale, dusky or cold skin, persistent lip numbness or blistering, or any change in vision.

Recovery and aftercare

After masseter injections

The muscle softens gradually. Avoid firm pressure over the area at first.

After chin or jawline filler

Mild swelling and tenderness are expected. Do not massage unless advised. Report pain, blanching or colour change the same day.

After RF or HIFU

Warmth and mild redness settle. Sun protection continues.

After any plan

Specific aftercare is given at the visit.

Sessions and fees

No session count applies. Treatment is staged or combined based on your assessment. Masseter reduction, filler absorption and collagen remodelling after lifting each vary by product and person, so repeat timing is set at review. The effect of masseter BTX is temporary, and the muscle rebuilds if clenching continues. Cost depends on which structures contribute and in what order, whether one or several approaches are used, whether work is staged or done at one visit, and how much of the lower face is involved. Fees are set out at consultation before anything is agreed.

Frequently Asked Questions

It starts by finding the limiting structure. The masseter, chin, jawline, fat and laxity are each checked before any treatment is chosen.
Only if an enlarged masseter is the main cause. It does not change bone, fat or laxity.
No. No injectable or device changes bone width. Proportion work on the chin and jawline is the non-surgical route.
No. It defines the frame and adds structure. It does not slim a wide face.
Removal is surgery and is referred to a plastic surgery specialist. It cannot be reversed, and the pad deflates naturally with age.
Filler placed before muscle and laxity are addressed can disguise the cause. Reversing the order is a common reason for an overfilled lower face.
If laxity is the only limit, the VF Lift and Time Freeze routes inject nothing. Whether this fits you is decided at assessment.
It varies by product and person, and repeat timing is set at review. Results vary.
